DIY RECORDING

A lot of bands/artists now can self record and produce their own material and many will have some kind of home studio set up.

So why use Carbon Studios?

There are some things that just can’t be done on a home studio (or at least done properly). Here are some of the benefits of integrating Carbon Studios into your own DIY Recording system:

  • Recording live drums, recording loud guitars, vocals or any instrument that needs to be live and loud.
  • Track instruments in a pro acoustically treated and sound proof room (a professional studio basically) at a much lower rate than it would normally cost.
  • Mix your tracks in a professional production room (without paying for a live room that you don’t need).
  • Do all your recording mixing at home? “Final Mix” it down in a proper studio to ensure it is sounding it’s best.
  • Want to do a live track with out multi-tracking, then you can mic up your instruments and room, mix in the production room using the “old school” analogue way and send a stereo track back to the room to record to whatever recording device you like.

Using our Firewire 16 in and out mixer, the Mackie 1640i which has 16 Onyx mic pre amps ooozing with hands on quality and flexibility, you can pretty much work in any fashion that you are used to.

Further Benefits of Using Carbon Studios

  • If you want, use your own laptop with your own software and plug straight into our firewire mixer so you can use the recording setup you are used to and take it straight home to carry on working on without the need of transferring files.
  • Creativity, you can spend more time experimenting with different arrangements, sounds and micing techniques all in your own time, without it costing too much.
  • Demo that new song you have written, quickly and cost effectively but without compromising quality. Book a few hours of production room when you are next in, or if it is available bolt it onto your session right there and then.
  • Flexibility, work in any way you like without being tied to the studio engineers way of doing things. “Bolt On” any of your own out board, instruments or mics to your session and develop your unique style and sound at Carbon Studios.
  • We are predicting some killer first albums/EPs/singles being recorded from here very soon by bands using Carbon Studios DIY Recording service.

No one in the band does recording but our mate/cousin/niece/helper monkey can so can we use them instead of paying for one of your engineers? Absolutely, just get them to sign up and off you go.

Hi Nathaniel

We don’t have freelance work available. What probably would have been said was, sign up to the DIY service http://www.carbon-studios.com/diy and you can be a freelance engineer (find acts to record) and use Carbon as a place to do the work in.
